A leading Art Handling and Transport company, Maurice Ward & Co Ltd, is seeking to hire a Business Development Apprentice under the Logistics Associate Apprenticeship program.
A successful candidate will be required to attend classes at MTU Cork Campus from September to May (hybrid learning – online and classroom teaching).
Upon completion of the programme, an apprentice will be awarded a Higher Certificate in Logistics at QQI Level 6 (NFQ)

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious sales professional to play a key role in delivering the company’s ambitious growth objectives.
The successful candidate will be confident, proactive, and results-oriented, with the ability to build strong relationships and identify new business opportunities. They will be comfortable engaging with prospective clients by phone, video call, and face-to-face, generating new leads, following up on referrals from partners, preparing competitive proposals, negotiating opportunities, and successfully closing new business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Generate leads through outbound prospecting, networking, referrals, and market research.
- Follow up on sales leads generated by partners, marketing activities, and internal referrals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing customers.
- Understand customer logistics requirements and develop tailored solutions.
- Prepare quotations, proposals, and tender responses.
- Negotiate commercial agreements and successfully close new business.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and ensure accurate CRM updates.
- Meet and exceed agreed sales targets and KPIs.
- Represent Maurice Ward at customer meetings, exhibitions, networking events, and industry conferences.
- Collaborate closely with operational teams to ensure exceptional customer service and successful onboarding of new clients.
Applicant must meet one of the LAA programme entry criteria:
- H7/O6 or above in five leaving certificate (or equivalent) subjects. A minimum of grade O6 must be obtained in English. A minimum of grade O6 or a B2 or above in Foundation level must be obtained in mathematics
- Holders of a QQI Level 5 or Level 6 (or equivalent) in cognate areas (e.g. business, logistics, and distribution, supply chain management, etc)
- Applicants may also be eligible to become apprentices via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
