
Position Title: Transport Planner Apprentice
Location: Raheenagh, Kantoher, Co. Limerick
Reports To: Transport Manager
About the Role: The overarching accountability of the role is to plan all daily customer collections and deliveries ensuring service against customer requirements at optimum cost to the business.

Core Responsibilities
• Create a costed transport plan for all customer level jobs/loads using TMS which can be executed against within the network ensuring:
• consistent service to the customer and market.
• planned routes are in line with working time directives, driver hours and customer slot times.
• the routes are as cost effective as possible, reducing empty running and maximising gross margin.
• the routes and combinations are balanced and considerate of resource, capacity and gross margin.
• Assess the loads for repeatability and development of networks which secure resources and ensure TMS system is set up for all planning parameters to eliminate double handling and duplication of effort.
• Assign and maximize the utilization of drivers and vehicles on a daily basis, challenging underutilized resources as appropriate.
• Liaising with customs (partner/customer/internal) on timely availability of paperwork to support the plan. Replanning of loads/resources as required to ensure ongoing optimisation.
• Align with other planning colleagues to assess wider network opportunities and synergies.
• Co-ordinate with depots and sites to agree schedules and clearance for driver deliveries.
• Identification of system functionality improvements and/or process improvements that can drive efficiency and effectiveness within the role.
• Create a driver resourcing plan on a rolling basis in line forecasted volumes/event management:
• ensure resourcing availability, the right spilt in driver contract availability (weekend, day shift, casual etc…), ensure timely communication with sub-contractors on requirements.
• Active engagement at the daily and weekly governance reviews – reviewing performance & any key issues with focus primarily on the forward-looking plan and risks/mitigation solutions.
• Provides day-to-day supervision of Drivers and Operatives.
• Ensure on completion of deliveries all jobs have been costed, all POD’s received (where required), all master data is accurate for the creation of a Right First Time invoice to the customer (Finance issue the invoice).
