Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Logistics Apprentice. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the transport and logistics industry while pursuing an associate course in Logistics Apprenticeship at TU Dublin.
The successful candidate will be actively involved in various aspects of our logistics operations, including transportation planning, warehousing, and supply chain management, with the goal of developing a solid foundation for a successful career in logistics.
Apprentices are employed for a period of two years with academic study (1 day per week) forming part of this job. Experience is gained by working on the job and Apprentices will be required to complete assignments and examinations for both their academic study and work-based placements, ensuring that they receive the correct preparation for positioning themselves for their future career within HANNON.
Job Description:
You will receive training on the following key responsibilities
Transportation Planning and Coordination:
• Assist in the scheduling and coordination of transport operations to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods.
• Work with the operations team to manage vehicle routes and allocate resources effectively.
• Monitor and track shipments, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Warehouse / Cross Docking Management:
• Support warehouse and cross docking operations.
• Assist in maintaining accurate stock records and conducting regular stock audits.
• Participate in the development of warehouse layouts and processes to improve efficiency.
Customer Service and Communication:
• Interact with customers and suppliers to provide updates on delivery schedules and address any inquiries or issues.
• Assist in resolving any transportation-related problems, ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with drivers and other team members.
Safety and Compliance:
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
• Assist in maintaining records related to vehicle maintenance, driver hours, and compliance with transport regulations.
• Participate in safety meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of safety practices.
Apprenticeship Learning and Development:
• Attend and actively participate in the Logistics Apprenticeship associate course at TU Dublin.
• Apply theoretical knowledge gained from the course to practical situations within the company.
• Complete all assignments, assessments, and other academic requirements as part of the apprenticeship program.

Qualifications and Experience:
The ethos of this position is to help those with no transport qualifications or experience within the industry to gain experience and a recognised qualification.
Key Competencies:
• Enrolment in the Logistics Apprenticeship associate course at TU Dublin.
• Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Strong interest in pursuing a career in logistics and transport.
• Basic knowledge of logistics, supply chain, or transportation (preferred but not required).
• Basic Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
Working Conditions:
• Full-time position, with a structured schedule that accommodates both work and academic commitments.
• Primarily based in the company’s depot in Blakes Cross, Lusk, North County Dublin, with occasional visits to other hubs as required.
• Some tasks may require physical activity, including lifting and moving goods.

Salary Range:
27K per annum.
