The LAA apprenticeship’s sixth intake for 2023 has wrapped up!
We were delighted to welcome our newest apprentice groups to the LAA – Logistics Associate Apprenticeship program during our induction session last week at Technological University Dublin City Campus and Munster Technological University Cork Campus.
This year through the apprenticeship, 73 logistics new apprentices have embarked on the exciting journey to become qualified logistics professionals. These include recent high school graduates, career changers, mature students, and professionals from 46 different logistics companies throughout Ireland specialising in shipping, freight forwarding, manufacturing, transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
We wish to extend our warmest welcome also to the new mentors who will work closely with the new apprentices over the next two years during the on-the-job training phases, providing guidance and support, sharing their industry knowledge with the apprentices, and playing a vital role in developing the future leaders of the industry.
We take great pride in being Ireland’s first apprenticeship for the Freight Distribution and Logistics sectors offering qualification at Level 6 of the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ).
Over the last six years, the LAA has gained widespread support within the Irish industry. The number of participating companies has increased each year, as part of their strategic efforts to attract new talent, develop the skills of the existing staff, build loyalty among employees, increase staff retention, and facilitate succession planning.
Moreover, apprenticeship has become a popular choice for candidates who want to start a career in the industry or return to education to acquire qualifications and progress in their careers.
We, therefore, wish to acknowledge and thank the industry employers, in particular those who have been part of the LAA journey since its development and have continuously supported the program in the past years as well as newly joined companies for their participation and commitment to providing learning opportunities and professional development opportunities to new entrants and working professionals in the industry.
Only with your support and together can we make a positive change, continue the apprenticeship success, and shape the next generation of industry experts and leaders.
We wish the 2023 LAA class the best of luck in their new roles, studies, and careers!
