The apprenticeship will provide on the job training and one day a week classroom learning in TU Dublin. The position is available for an immediate start with the successful applicant then to commence Year 1, (LAA) studies at TU Dublin City Campus in September 2021.

Position: Logistics import / export apprentice
Apprenticeship: Logistics Associate Apprenticeship (LAA) – QQI Level 6 Higher Certificate in Logistics (www.laa.ie)
Key Responsibilities:
Comprising on exports accepting bookings from customers
• Placing bookings with shipping lines
• Placing bookings with hauliers
• Confirm booking to customer
• Completing export declarations
• Submitting VGM details/shipping instructions
• Checking draft bills of lading
• Completing export spreadsheet
Comprising on imports
• Monitoring arrivals into Ireland
• Collecting original bills of lading where necessary
• Liaising with importers on arrivals
• Arranging customs clearance if required
• Arrange haulage for delivery
Food imports
• Completing CHED P certs for health certs on European TRACES system
• Arrange customs clearance
• Liaise with Dept of Ag / customs on booking units for inspection
• Arrange haulage where necessary for delivery
Applicant must meet the educational criteria for the Logistics Associate Apprentice:
• H7/O6 or above in five leaving certificate (or equivalent) subjects. A minimum of grade O6 must be obtained in English. A minimum of grade O6 or a B2 or above in Foundation level must be obtained in mathematics.
• Holders of a QQI Level 5 or Level 6 (or equivalent) in cognate areas (e.g. business, logistics and distribution, supply chain management, etc
• Applicants may also be eligible to become apprentices via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
